If you are (or know of) any seniors and would like to find some groups to socialise with others in North Ayrshire, you’ll be pleased to know that there are several out there.

Being a senior can feel isolating at times, but hopefully, you will find something that interests you in this list!

North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership Activities

The North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership has a day centre that puts on activities for people 65 and over who feel isolated, have mobility issues, or who would like to engage in more social activity.

Transport can be provided from your home to the day centre if necessary.

Social activities, music, cooking, and arts & crafts workshops are just some of the engaging events that are held.

A key worker will organise a plan with you before your first session to establish what you do and don’t enjoy. This also offers you the opportunity to outline what you hope to get out of the sessions.

HOPE in the Community Support and Social Events

HOPE helps over 50 year olds in North Ayrshire remain independent in their own homes, while also giving them access to a network of similar people, with a range of activities on offer.

You can access one to one and telephone befriending sessions, along with digital and social activities, including quizzes.

If you want to stay healthy as you age, consider taking advantage of health and fitness classes that allow you to maintain your fitness while also meeting new people and forming connections.

These sessions can help fight feelings of isolation, introducing you to a whole new network.

The Classics Stroke Group

This workshop is open to anyone who has recovered from a stroke, as a way of engaging in peer support.

Hosted by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, you are welcome to bring family, friends, and carers along with you to this weekly Tuesday meeting.

You can help others by talking about your experiences, and benefit from listening to theirs.

Girdle Toll Bowling Club’s Seniors Afternoon Tea

The Girdle Toll Bowling Club is hosting an afternoon tea on the 21st December for seniors, giving you the chance to socialise in the lead up to Christmas.

Enjoy delicious treats and drinks, and immerse yourself in your local community while getting into the festive cheer.

Entry is free, but make sure to grab your ticket via this link. The event will begin at 1 pm.
